Canterbury dairy farms

Few weeks ago, short trip down to Twizel. Driving south from Christchurch couldn't believe the proliferation of dairy farms and thousands of cattle all along the plains. (been out of the country for 15 years so really noticed) Doesn't bode well for the rivers in that area. Also driving alongside the Ohau/Pukaki canal towards lake Poaka, looking across to the mountains, more and more dairy cattle and apparently there are plans to expand the industry into the majority of the Mackenzie Basin. The term clean and fishable waters is fast becoming a fallacy. I don't think another term, water sharing, means anything to Fonterra, and the government will back them because $$$$$$$.
