I had a cunning plan, so cunning you could pin a tail on it and call it a ferret. Liquid Latex spread out thickly and left to dry, then simply cut into strips with scissors. You can buy latex strips commercially, this was a DIY job because I already had the latex and didn't know what to do with it. It does look realistic, more so a grass grub than an overfed and corpulent caddis larva. It can be scaled down to caddis size by cutting thinner strips but whatever you do, don't paint it. My next trip up north I'll pick up some waxed rigging thread as suggested by Jaapie in another post. Also, have you seen the Shark caddis larva by Rado Kiskinov over at Global Flyfisher using antron and hare fur?, look it up. The search for buggy bodies continues because it's fun.
