Quick belated opening for me into the hills above Wellington yesterday, fish are in great nick for so early in the season, will be some big fish round come Cicada time! Andrew

Usually get the first fish on Cicada just before xmas mate, right through to end of April, in fact the last few season's, late April has been quite productive on them even on April 30! But March would be the magic month in Wellington, but differs around the country with location and Cicada species. I.e. ours are the big plump green ones, don't generally get the smaller open tussock variety here. Cheers

went fishing tararua mtns wairarapa yesterday my first catch on a dry for the season blach midge the trout went 5lb

un fortunatly it was gill hooked it didnt make it
