Hi Colin - 2021 is alive and well in the land of the long white cloud. Plenty of fishing for the locals and quiet waters! No restrictions going anywhere. However it might be 2022 before you're allowed back - it'll take at least all of 2021 to get a big percentage of our population vaccinated - then the borders might open a little for others other than returning kiwis and essential workers. So stay safe and we'll see you in a year or two.

Note quite sure about the "plenty of fishing" statement Dave. Dam its been a wet summer. Hardly a week goes by without the rivers been in flood. Our local club just canceled its latest club trip once again, due to flooding. Very chilly outside and plenty of snow on the caps and its meant to be summer? I say roll on winter!

Early summer was dry here but certainly we've had lots of rain since the start of January - but even with the rivers out, there's dozens of stillwaters worth fishing in my area. Last week was hot and calm and perfect to ambush the edge cruisers with damsel dries and nymphs. This week however would make the list of sh.. weeks even in our winter! Unsettled weather comes to mind - but there's another couple of months of summer left - maybe we'll even get a decent cicada hatch on our high country dams.
