Where to head to?

Post by Kopite » Fri Dec 27, 2019 12:35 pm

I've got 4/5 days to fish toward the end of January, from Christchurch, but unsure where to head to. Looking at a guide for one, maybe 2 days, and then find my own way the rest of it. Thinking either Arthur's pass direction, or Twizel/Tekapo. No real reasoning behind those other than I've driven through them and thought they looked amazing. Any experienced folk able to offer some tips? Looking for somewhere with a bit of variety for day hike trips that a newcomer to NZ could handle.

Second question: How vital are waders? I don't have any. Will this be an issue? I tend to wet wade happily, but not sure if that's the go in NZ.

Thanks!

Definitely wet wade, waders are too hot mid summer.

Asking where to fish on a public forum is unlikely to get much of a response, as you can see, but book a guide, they'll normally help with ideas of were else to fish or invest in the bible - John Kents South Island Fishing Guide
