Thanks Iconoclast, very kind of you - yeah, I'm in Lower Hutt so will wait to hear from Manic (probably all on holiday fishing at the moment!) and then take you up on your offer depending on what they come back with. I have a 5 weight so can still fish in the mean time...if this Wellington weather plays ball!!
Cheers

Re: Rod tip repair
Thanks to all in this thread for the very kind offers and suggestions. As a couple of you thought, Manic got in contact via this forum and are looking after me, which is great. Thanks all!

I knew they would look after you. A great bunch of blokes, who have always looked after me Very well!!
Rene was in town last week. Pity I missed him, as id buy him more than a few beers for all the assistance he has given over the years.

Re: Rod tip repair
yip, thats the way i would do a repair for a client, place a graphite tube inside the blank, using 2 part epoxy. if you "polish" the frayed end at the break to a clean crisp finish, you should not need any binding and you will need to look VERY carefully for the repair. it WILL change the action of the rod, so be aware of that, if you don't mind. (Though in all my years doing it, no client has ever felt the difference)
