Recently completed my first rod build - an Epic 480. I was pleasantly suprised and how un-complicated this was, and just how easy it was to get a professional looking finish. This is also my first glass rod I've owned since my very first rod about 20 years ago - and wow, what I great rod to cast.
Was lucky enough to have a business trip to the US recently - so picked up a hand-wrapper and a rod drier, which definitely helped, especially the drier which ensured a real nice smooth finish over the wraps. Not sure now if I will ever buy an "off the shelf rod again, and I am already planning my next build (an Epic 888 for a trip to chase Bones in the Cooks later in 2017). Anyway, some photos attached, including its first victim, a nice 4lb Brown from the Hutt (released to fight another day).

Re: First Rod Build
Nice build there and fish as well. What brand of line did you use?
Just finished a glass CTS 476-3 and got a 406 4wt line for it, hope to fish soon

Re: First Rod Build
Thanks. I'm using a 4wt Double Taper glass line that is produced by Epic. Casts really nice, kids like casting a spiderweb with a toothpick!
