Sage 3280 on saltwater?
Anyone tested one of these on something that can pull? Plan is to use it on bonefish. Lovely reel but doesn’t seem to have the heaviest drag.

More than ample bro.
You have to remember that a smooth drag is more important than a heavy one (other than fighting GTs in coral country). Once a bone takes off you have the line plus backing been pulled through the water, that alone creates a couple of kg pressure on the tippet. So unless your fishing 50lb tippet (which if you did will ensure you don't hook bonefish) then the drag on a 3280 is more than enough.
I used to own one and used it up in Aitutaki, and caught lots of bones with it. Well built reel, but I discovered that the drag is sealed, but the bearings aren't, so I sold mine. Id prefer to spend a little more and have a reel that I can dunk without any fear of corroding the internals. That may not be an issue for many, so might be OK for you? Iv replaced it with an Orvis Mirage. Very similar reel but fully sealed and around twice the price.

Bucking trends in fly fishing since 1970!

Nice pic mate and much appreciate the run down. I agree on the drag from the line - this is how hooks straighten when a bonefish decides to turn and run 90 degrees from the line with 100m of backing off the reel!
At some point I may invest in something else but I already have this reel and trying not to spend more than I need to - already going to end up dropping enough on tippet, fly line, backing and fly tying materials! So it’s very helpful to know it will be serviceable for a short holiday.
