Christmas presents
Who is hoping for some flyfishing equipment for Christmas?
Did you give out some hints or buy it yourself?
I'm sure that Flyfish wants a new drone or new camera to go on the current drone.
I'm sure Johnno needs a Asian fly tier to train up so he can get out on the water more.
Don't know what Fraser wants but if the leg is still giving problems a cure would be nice.
Steve just wants the Government to fix the rivers !!
Have a good Christmas and New Year

Haha. No fishing gear at all, which is fine. Got a Kindle though, so can download all sorts of books..... an afternoon of reading sipping Pimms, Brandy, and Bitters....

Re: Christmas presents
Hahaha funny you say, I was hoping for a nice new Lamson's Cobalt in an 8# size Dave.
Unfortunately they aren't in the country yet so managed to pick up a orvis mirage vi second hand. Great reel, but I'm a whore for Lamson's. One will become another family member soon.
Just arrived in Auckland. Of to Waiheke tomorrow. I won't be too mobile, but I can sit and wait to spot a bow wake on the flats all day long. Fingers crossed I come across a big yellow faced bugger!
Merry Christmas everyone, and may all your fishing dreams come true! !!

Re: Christmas presents
Hehe unfortunately not so far, but have come SO close. I'm in Tauranga at the moment.
While I was on Waiheke island I managed to get out with Matt Von Strummer of saltflyfish. What a time I had? Man oh man, if you guys are ever in Auckland or Waiheke you have to book this man. The guy has the gulf wired.
Bagged quite a lot of kahawai, then we went chasing kingies. I had what appeared to be a take from a huge kingie. Must have been heading towards 30kg. Unfortunately it missed the fly. Matt was convinced I was on, but unfortunately not.
I'm going to be heading back soon to get out with him. I only had an afternoon with him, but it made my week if not my year!!!!

I still might get a shot at a yellow faced bugger here in Tauranga. Watch this space.

I have put "saltflyfish" on my bucket list ! Not sure how long a hook up with a 30kg kingie would last on a fly rod - could be over quite quickly ! Have only had kingies up to 18 kg on a normal boat rod but keen to try on a fly rod - but not with my Epic 5#

Do it mate, you won't regret it.
Yeah Matt did warn me that I could likely loose a fly line, but hell it's worth it for the buzz.

Re: Christmas presents
Ah sorry for only just getting back to you guys. He charges $660 for a half day and $990 for a full day, which is for Matt and the boat. He can guide up to 3 people but obviously 1 or 2 is a better situation. Worth every penny if you ask me!
