Been using a 7wt sage for most things, one rod does not fit all, after a lighter rod for small rivers and such like, pref not 10ft.

Ah still a bit of an open question. Most Sage rods are pretty stiff (some call that fast). So most rods 3-4# are going to be fuller action and slower.

I'd probably go a 4# as a 3# you might find yourself a little under gunned in NZ. Would be several hundred rods that are worth a mention, so still a little hard to narrow it down.

Give us an idea of the size of river your thinking of using it on.

Mostly canterbury and the west coast rivers is my preference, do you have something to sell?

Ah a misunderstanding. You meant does anyone have anything second hand for sale? The wording of your post made me think you were looking for advice on a new rod to purchase.

Nope, i'v got a hell of a collection but their all ones I love and not willing to part with.

Find a 6 wt/ 9 footer of some description as it will cover most bases. Plenty of options on TM.

Something that long will be too much on some of the smaller creeks, but nitrate is a bigger issue close to Chch and the fish are dealing with that by disappearing, so the small water ways no longer have the attraction that they did 20 years ago anyway.
