I AM A BELT AND BRACES MAN . TIME IS "KNOT" OF THE ESSENCE . I HAD BEEN TRYING THE PENNY KNOT BUT FIND IT LEAVES A MEMORY TYPE CURL IN THE TIPPET , JUST BEHIND THE FLY . IF I CAN SEE IT THE TROUT MUST ALSO . SO I'VE GONE BACK TO THE IMPROVED CLINCH KNOT - WHEN ITS CLOSED I ADD A HALF HITCH WITH 2 TURNS THROUGH - TIGHTEN - THEN TRIM .

Its the improved clinch knot for tippet to hook and a 3 turn surgeons has improved the reliability of the tippet to leader connection especially with lighter stuff i.e. under 4lb.
