Looking for fishing partners!

It looks like I may have arrived during a rather dry and hot time! I'm currently in Christchurch and am going to be focusing largely on the South Island. Later today I should have a vehicle to travel the country with. I'm perfectly capable of long hikes and have been fly fishing for the majority of my life. Are there any areas currently that are still fishing well? Going to be in NZ for two months and would love to spend some time on the water with some of you guys.
