Couple of days in Invercargill

Post by peelproductions » Wed Aug 30, 2017 5:59 pm

Hi All,
Have a couple of days in invercargill the 2nd week October.
Was considering a day wandering up the middle reaches of either the Oreti or Apirama rivers. Have not fished either before.
Any PM'd pointers on the better option out of the two (or other rivers), good access points or fly choices would be much appreciated if there are any southerners on the board.
Prefer spotting if possible rather that chuck and chance.
Thanks
JG

JG where to go will depend on river levels at the time. The rivers in Southland can be a bit variable at that time of the year (or any other for that matter) and they get dirty if they are above normal. Check the F&G pamphlets for access points.

Careful with the locals. They might eye you up as a new source of DNA....

Plenty of water in that neck of the woods and options if one or more is high. I suggest that you bribe Dave with good beer ;-)

Yip, id second those comments. Buy Dave a beer and you will be sorted. Plenty of water down there, all depends on whats happened in the headwaters. I should be in that neck of the woods for opening. Wife wants to spend a long weekend on the beach in Riverton for her birthday. I would have a wife, that's birthday is the day before opening hey?
