Victoria River Northland trout?

Post by fraser hocks » Wed Sep 27, 2023 7:24 pm

Hey there team. Me and my wife are staying up in Taipa for an early spring break.

We just rode over to Kaitaia, and rod down to the Mangamuka Gorge. We noticed that we crossed the Victoria River several times, and one sign even indicated trout 😮. Has anyone fished up here? The river looked stunning, but I though that there weren't any trout this far north?

Don't worry we brought the saltwater fly fishing gear, but the weather has been too rough to get out. Besides, looks like the fish around here get hit pretty hard already.
