Hey Steve ( or anyone ) What was the body material you used on the Straggly Bugger - Really like the look of it, hopefully the fish do too!

I can't see the note Steve gave me with the name of that stuff Matt but just had a look on the Flyshop and think it's the UV Polar Chenille

Thanks Mike, I thought it may have been that, but the fibre looked shorter. Cool effect though

That's what I was going to use but got mine from elsewhere before Steve had it in stock...

And it ended up being a short chenille, so used something else for my monstrosity instead.

UV Polar chenille is cool stuff - impression of bulk, but very light to cast.

Haven't got a name for mine, it started as a Snot Goblin, didn't have enough schlappen, decided on a Death Dog, the Polar Chenille that turned up was too short, so substituted it for eyelash yarn. Thought I'd add a rabbit strip head a la Provo Hooker, ran out of rabbit, so did some in Laser Dub... Fun to tie, but I usually underestimate the amount of material they take!

Let's stick with Miss Congeniality:

Rear shank - 1.6mm x 25mm split pin (trim tag to length)
Tail - Marabou
Wing - Rabbit
Body - Eyelash yarn - Spotlight calls this one "Tinka" in Gold

Connection - 19 strand Beadalon and 4 or 6mm plastic beads

Front hook - Allen B200 #6 (oversized like Tiemco 8089)
Eyes - 6.3mm brass dumbell
Marabou
Rabbit
Eyelash yarn
Head - rabbit or Laser dub (Sculpin olive over Dark Tan)

Works well as a single too.

I'd love to know the material on Matt's Conehead and Pete Carty's wing fibre.

Ahh thanks for that Rudy. Wondering what the "hackle" was. Thought it might have been Senyos wacko hackle but eyelash yarn... Nice! Spotlight is a great shop for shit like that. You gotta love laser dub. It's great. I go through a lot of it.
