Re: Swap 2 Pics
2nd post 4th fly:
TURCK'S POWER ANT
Hook: 8 - 16 dry fly of choice
Thread to suit body colour
Abdomen: Lighter hare/rabbit mix
Wing: White Antron
Legs: Colour to suit
Hackle: Brown or Grizzle
Thorax: Darker hare/rabbit mix
Olive, tan, brown and grey/black seem to work well. My best producer is light olive / dark olive with a grizzle hackle and light tan / dark tan with brown hackle. Banded legs just look better to me...
Just a good general terrestrial. A stablemate of Turck's Turantula.

Re: Swap 2 Pics
Nice pics Johnno, thanks for hosting... great job as usual
Third post- first fly is "Mike & Pete's Blowfly"... a wee foam number I developed with Peter Carty, it's to ride low in the water rather than bouncing along the top. There was an article in issue 74 of fish & game magazine Pete wrote with all the details of how to tie.
Look forward to the flies arriving, great ties people!

Third post, third fly - GFA (General Foam Attractor)
Hook - 2xl - this was a #10
Body - tan 2mm foam
Wing - deer / elk
Rubber legs
Indicator
Easy peasy to tie, rides low in the water, floats well. You can tie them as an extended body version on a curved hook a la TMC2302, or even a shorter curved hook like a "scud" hook. Helps with hook gap clearance.

Re: Swap 2 Pics
Can't wait for this lot to get here, good looking set here.
Mine is first post 2nd fly.
It's as close as I can get to a Rubber Legged Russel's Ripper by Russell Anderson, one of the better unusual flys in my flybox but stopped being distributed. Works anywhere there is overhanging bush, it's made to be fished waterlogged and landed with a splat similar to other terrestrials. Tried a few different colours but a grey/light brown combination seems to work best. Apologies some of the legs don't line up I tied them in a slight rush, I doubt the fish will mind.
Recipe:
Hook: TMC 9300 Size 12 in this case but also have a heavy weighted version on a B175 size 8, only difference is the size of the legs and a lead underbody.
Thorax: Grey Nylon stockings stuffed with Dubbing of your choice until it is round and the correct size.
Legs: Brown rubber, small round from steve.
Wingcase (Body covering): Slip of natural goose feather.
Dubbing: Natural Rabbit in this case but anything will work here. The original uses wool for probably a better effect.
