Noded Frustrations
Hello,
I am currently working with a builder in the States who has asked for a 9ft 4wt noded blank. After some design work we have come up with a taper we are happy with. 9ft is a lot of cane for a 4wt, and this will be a very slow powerful action. The kind of rod you could light a pipe on the back cast before even thinking about a haul. Long story short the first butt section I made him after glue up has shown a few small glue lines - It looked ok before gluing but alas these things happen. A new section has been split and planed waiting for glue up.
It would be a waste not to use/finish this rod but I have no use for this taper. So I'm offering it to any NZ builders that want this blank. ( I will finish the tip off after the 2 booked blanks so another 3-4weeks)
So let me know ( if there is too much interest I'll chuck names into a hat) if you want to build a 9ft 4wt single tip with bamboo ferrule. This wont be super light rod but will have a very slow powerful action - a beautiful dry fly rod.
Anyway if your keen let me know
Cheers
Matt

Re: Noded Frustrations
Tempting Matt.
But it doesn't sound like a taper that I'd use very much, so I'll leave to the others who would appreciate more than me.

No worries Kev,upstream wrote:Tempting Matt.

I feel the same 9ft is a long rod for cane, and not a taper I would fish very often - in saying that, the numbers/graphs suggest it will be a weapon in the right hands.

Wilki - chuck me through your address mate, I'll flick it on the courier - but if anyone asks you don't get it from me.
Its fish-able but not up to my standard.
It was a pretty small hat - Johhno pulled out by PM

You will have more use for it than I will Mike. Besides I have enough rods. And about to build another
