H Ian, I have built one from the kit, very easy... a well thought out kit with everything you need, comes with a great instruction manual with it. Fun rod to fish with also, plenty of people building on these blanks... I have a second one here to build just not getting around to it

They are an epic rod

I don't really need one, but I can see myself building one this season! Had a test cast with the range the other day, and there all very nice with some real standout performers in there.

Lovely bit of kit, and I love the way you can order a every detail of the build the way you want it, including an amazing array of blank colours etc...

Fraser, I'd be interested in your thoughts about the standouts in the range.
I'm thinking of getting a 580, hard to buy without trying first though...

Personally I really liked the 480, as did quite a few of the others that were testing the rods with me.

The 580 was also very nice, just not quite as crisp as the 480. ID consider the 480 if your thinking about the 580. Glass works better in those shorter lighter rods, so if your thinking of going an 8' then makes sense to go the 4# IMO. Id doubt that you will feel under gunned with the 480 over the 580.

PS. something I really liked are the composite rod tubes that come with the rods, rather than the ali ones. A silly little detail, but there a lot lighter and don't dent and chip like ali ones. I bet we will see a shift to those kind of tubes over time?

I'm saving my pennies to get my greasy dirty hands on the DH 11'6

I've got some epic plans for that build

Have a 580 It was my personal preference over the 480. Next one will be a 686 8-)
